The Sanctuary of the Vision is so called because inside the church is kept the cell that hosted Antonio during his stay in Camposampiero in May and June 1231. It was here that he had a vision of Baby Jesus. A table is located in this small space that, according to tradition, was Antonio’s bed. On it, at the end of the 1400s, Andrea de Murano painted an image of the saint. Once outside the Sanctuary of the Vision, following a long road flanked by trees, we reach the Walnut Tree Sanctuary, a small but significant repository of art and devotion, erected in 1432 on the spot where the walnut tree that Antonio used to preach from was located. The brick structure, whose façade is adorned with a porch portal and pinnacles, was enriched in the first half of the 1500s with frescos that tell the tales of the miracles enacted by Saint Antonio, attributed to Girolamo Tessari also known as “Dal Santo” or From the Saint, and the altarpiece by Bonifiacio de’ Pitati of the Walnut Tree Sanctuary that depicts the preaching of Saint Antonio from the Walnut Tree.
