Chiesa di San Giorgio

Chiesa

The church of San Giorgio was a parish since 1297 but little remains to testify the medieval times except for the powerful and robust bell tower. It is the only survivor of the four castle towers and owned by the bishops of Padua. The building that we see today with its neoclassical facade, is the result of numerous interventions done in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Its interior preserves an interesting cycle of four paintings dating back to the nineties of the sixteenth century in which Jacopo Palma il Giovane illustrates, in a style influenced by Titian and Tintoretto, episodes from the life of San Girolamo.
