In 1552, Giorgio Cornaro commissioned Andrea Palladio to build a residence in the countryside that would meet the practical needs of stocking the harvest and the desire to show off his riches and enjoy the pleasures of life in the country. Construction was so fast that Cornaro was able to move in in 1554, in a villa whose facades, with a double loggia, are a true anthem to monumentality. The colonnade was built by Vincenzo Scamozzi in 1596 and soon thereafter the works to decorate the interior began: Camillo Mariani created the busts of illustrious ancestors, located in the niches in the hall on the ground floor. Mattia Bortoloni carried out the decorative painting and the stucco was done in the 700s. The frescoes on the ground floor depict biblical episodes from the Old Testament and from the New Testament in the rooms on the first floor. For appointments: mioriky@gmail.com
